Georgetown Loop RR
The Georgetown Loop Railroad runs from Georgetown, Colorado to Silver Plume, Colorado.  The railroad was used to transport Silver ore down from the mines.  The unique feature of this railroad is that the train gains eighty feet in elevation by doubling back over itself in a circle shaped trestle known as "the Devils Gate Viaduct."  This trestle was dismantled when the line was abandoned, but was rebuilt in 1967 by a US Naval Construction Battalion as a summer project with materials and funding donated by several railroads and citizens groups.  The engines and rolling stock are authentic to the period.   A new railroad depot and engine house was constructed at Silver Plume and are included in these pictures.
